About Us

Robin grew up dinghy sailing and quickly passed his enthusiasm on to me when we met. Driven by our shared passion for the sea, we're now ready to leave behind the cold gray waters of Sussex in England, and set sail for the warm blue horizons that await.

Rachael's commitment to the environment shapes the way we sail, guiding us to navigate as sustainably as possible. Aboard Pérdika, we'll harness the power of the wind, minimize waste, steer clear of single-use plastics and recycle whenever we can. We’re also mindful of the products we use, opting for ocean-friendly alternatives to help protect marine ecosystems.

Beyond our daily efforts, we will contribute to three citizen science projects as volunteer ocean going researchers:  The Secchi Disc Study founded by the charming Dr Richard Kirby. Our ocean data collection will help map the global density of phytoplankton, an important indicator of ocean health.  SeaLabs a marine conservation project that utilises global sailors like us, to track changes in ocean chemistry using their specialised testing kit. And The Ocean Cleanup which tracks ocean plastic. Along the way, we’ll also organise beach cleans, hoping to leave each place a little better than we found it.

But this adventure is about more than just sailing. It’s about embracing a new way of life—challenging ourselves to grow, building meaningful connections, and making a positive impact on the communities and environments we'll encounter. As we set sail we look forward to the lessons the ocean will teach us, the stories we’ll collect and the unforgettable moments that will shape this next chapter of our lives.
